Just Say No to Voicemail

Nothing good ever comes of voicemail. I am convinced of it. I have gotten in trouble with multiple dates, friends and family members for not listening to or leaving messages. I figure if something is important, the person will text me (I recognize this can sound backwards to some people). But for those of you who are still prone to recording unrehearsed airtime to someone else's phone, I leave you with this EPIC Drunk Dial from a girl who thought she was leaving a message for a guy she met earlier that night. She wound up with the wrong number and left this voicemail for a random guy who shared it with the internet. Hey random guy -- thank you!

Warning: She sounds like she may be speaking pig Latin and uses the term "connection" more times than Season 3 of The Bachelor.

Big thanks to Like the Vodka blog for the tip-sy tip!

  1. I'm embarrassed having had listened to this alone. I am also guilty of 'holding onto' voicemail's myself, which is exactly why I never leave them. We all see our missed calls; when the person is ready, they will call you back.

If this is actually a real voicemail it in and of itself has given me at least a weeks worth of material for my blog.

  2. I know when I watched it for the first time I got that burning sensation you get when you are mortified for someone else! Heart you Jenny Jen.

  5. Listening to this I am painfully reminded of the scene in the movie "Swingers" when Jon Favreau ignores Vince Vaughan's advice about the "two day rule" and frantically and repeatedly calls a girl he met earlier that night proclaiming he's not ready to be in a relationship. Mocking this girl hardly seems fair since she provides way too much ammo to make it sporting. I wouldn't pick a fight with a guy who's hobbling around on crutches either. We've all had that ethereal experience of leaving an unrehearsed message for someone hoping that it would come off as whimsical, and then immediately shrugged our shoulders when it was over and thought, "what the fuck was I just talking about." This girl goes so far beyond the point of ridiculous that if she had gotten the right number I am almost inclined to think Ryan would have called her back to at least give her a shot at redemption. I once called a girl by the wrong name over a voicemail and she still let me take her out. I think it was more to hold it over my head than anything else, but like I told her, "at least it wasn't during sex."

  6. I love when I do something wrong and compare it to something way worse in hopes of diffusing the situation! Except, for me, it usually backfires like when I was fighting with a BF cause I came home late and I said "it's not like I slept with your best friend." I think his exact words were, "what is wrong with you."

I do agree, sharing this video is a bit like kicking someone when they are down, but I can't help get a kick out of it. Thank god it wasn't on Skype.

  7. This is beyond. I just listened to it twice and feel the same as when I watch Michael Scott. Proof that drunk people do NOT need cell phones! :)

  8. Wow, that's great. It reminds me of stories from friends who wake up to find they have called some girl at 3 AM and don't know whether they talked. Left with only a call duration, they sometimes have to guess whether they got the voicemail, left a voicemail, or even worse had a conversation.
